For Ward 3 Councillor · Township of Lanark Highlands

A neighbour on council — not a stranger.

Ryan McMurrer is a Ward 3 farmer, builder and local small business owner who answers his phone. His plan for council is straightforward: hold the line on taxes, back local business, and fight for the way of life that brought us all out here — starting with stopping the Alto rail line.

Taxes & growth

A realistic economic plan

Lanark Highlands has a money problem. Ryan wants to grow the tax base through smarter, more streamlined approvals — not another property tax hike.

No to Alto

Protecting our land

A high-speed rail line through Lanark Highlands would expropriate land, bisect our roads, and bring this ward zero benefit. Ryan is firmly opposed.

Accessibility and Transparency

A relationship based on clarity and transparency.

This is the one people in Ward 3 raise most. Ryan will answer his phone and reply to email — and he's proposing quarterly updates for the ward: two in-person meetings and two newsletters a year, so residents stay informed and have a direct line to raise issues.

About Ryan

A good ol' country boy with a head for business.

Ryan is a Lanark local through and through — a farmer, entrepreneur, and self-proclaimed best fisherman on Taylor Lake. With his partner Tausha, he runs two businesses right here in Ward 3: Maplestone Ranch and Retreat, and Maplestone Homes.

Fifteen-plus years in finance and asset management, paired with real experience in construction and development, taught him how to get things done — and how to ask the tough questions before the money's spent.
